You Bought the AC. Now Nobody's Coming to Install It.
The summer queue problem nobody in Kerala's AC industry wants to talk about, why retail-linked installation teams disappear in May, and what a careful, accountable install actually looks like.

You did everything right. You hunted down the best deal, compared prices across Amazon, Flipkart, and a few local electronics stores, found the Daikin or LG you wanted at a price you were happy with, placed the order, and got it delivered. The unit is sitting in your living room. The box is still sealed.
That was three weeks ago.
You have called the retailer twice. The installation team has been "coming tomorrow" for ten days. Your ceiling fan is running at full speed. You are sleeping badly.
This is not a rare situation. During peak summer, the gap between "AC sold" and "AC installed" stretches to three or four weeks across much of Kerala, and the reasons behind that gap are straightforward, even if they are rarely explained to the buyer upfront.
Why Installation Teams Go Missing in Summer
When you buy an air conditioner from a large retailer, the purchase price often includes installation. What it does not include is any guarantee of when that installation happens or how carefully it gets done.
Authorised Service Partners (ASPs), the contractor teams that handle installations for retailers, work on volume during the summer months. They are taking calls from dozens of customers at the same time, often operating with the same number of technicians they would have during a slower period. The incentive structure does not reward quality or timeliness; it rewards throughput. A rushed installation that is done is better for them than a careful one that takes twice as long.
When the backlog builds, it builds fast. By the time you are in week two of waiting, you are one of several hundred people in the same queue across the city.
What a Rushed Installation Costs You
This matters beyond the inconvenience of waiting.
An air conditioner's long-term performance depends heavily on how it is installed. The outdoor unit needs to be mounted on a bracket rated for its weight, at the right angle, with adequate clearance. The copper piping connecting the indoor and outdoor units needs to be the right grade, properly insulated, and routed without tight bends that restrict refrigerant flow. Electrical connections need to be clean, and the voltage coming to the unit should ideally pass through a stabiliser if supply in your area is not stable.
None of this is complicated. But it requires a team that is focused on the job in front of them, not trying to finish and get to the next four bookings before evening.
Bad installation shows up gradually: an AC that never quite cools as well as it should, a refrigerant leak a year in, an outdoor unit that starts vibrating after eighteen months because the mount was not solid. By then, the retailer's warranty team will want to know who installed the unit, and the conversation gets complicated.
Why Corporate Buyers Have Less Room for Error
For a home, a mediocre installation is frustrating. For a hotel, a server room, a medical facility, or a commercial office, it is a different problem entirely.
Businesses that run multiple AC units across a premises need a single point of contact that can handle installation, commissioning, and ongoing service without handoffs, delays, or ambiguity over who is responsible when something goes wrong. Most retail-linked installation teams are not equipped for that. They install and move on.
The paperwork matters too. Corporate procurement usually requires itemised billing, not a round figure for "installation charges," but a line-by-line breakdown of labour, materials, and any additional components. That is not common practice among smaller teams.
What We Do Differently
Hitech Refrigeration Services has been handling HVAC installation and service in Kerala since 1999, with 25+ years of statewide field experience and ISO 9001:2015 / ISO 45001:2018 certified processes. We are corporate dealers and authorised service partners for Daikin, LG, Godrej, Toshiba, Carrier, and Midea, which means that if you engage us, your manufacturer warranty stays intact regardless of which retailer sold you the unit.
Every installation we do is handled by a two-member team. Before the job starts, we assess the site: where the outdoor unit will go, what the pipe run looks like, whether the electrical supply is stable, whether a voltage stabiliser makes sense for your setup. We do not begin a job without understanding it.
We provide itemised market-rate quotes before any work starts. If extra copper piping is needed because the outdoor unit has to go on a wall far from the indoor unit, that is on the quote. If you need an outdoor stand because there is no wall bracket option, that is on the quote. No surprises after the job is done.
We also maintain service records for every customer. If your unit needs attention six months or two years from now, we know what was installed, how it was configured, and what to look for. That history matters when diagnosing a problem.
Our coverage is Kerala-wide. One number, one team, any location across all 14 districts.
A Note on Price
We are not the cheapest option. We cannot be, and we do not try to be.
Large retailers routinely discount popular AC models to get rid of stock, and it is hard to argue with their prices. As authorised dealers buying directly from manufacturers, the gap between our price and the retail price on a given model can be anywhere from ₹5,000 to ₹9,000 depending on the unit. That difference is real, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
What you are investing in is a service that prioritises you, does the work to a standard that holds up over time, keeps you documentation for everything it does, and is reachable when you need it again. If ease of mind is what speaks to you, we are worth considering.
But if you have been sitting in a hot room for weeks waiting for an installation team that has not come, we're here at your disposal!

Why This Matters To HRS
How HRS turns this topic into practical site work
Across HVAC and refrigeration work, the useful answer is rarely just the product name. What matters is how the system is selected, installed, serviced, and supported in actual Kerala operating conditions.
